The festive season has arrived, bringing joy to fans of year-end data, music, and marketing with the unveiling of Spotify Wrapped. Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican sensation, has reclaimed the title of the most-played artist, surpassing Taylor Swift for the fourth time.
Spotify recently released its annual summary, showcasing the top songs, artists, podcasts, and other audio content that captivated its vast user base worldwide over the past year. While various music streaming platforms offer yearly insights into user preferences, Spotify Wrapped has emerged as a highly anticipated event since its inception a decade ago, despite facing some user criticism.
In the realm of music, Bad Bunny reigns supreme as the most-streamed artist globally in 2025, amassing over 19.8 billion streams. Following closely are industry heavyweights like Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, and Billie Eilish. Bad Bunny had previously held the top spot for three consecutive years starting in 2020 before reclaiming it this year.
Among the top albums globally, Bad Bunny’s “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos” took the lead, trailed by the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack and standout releases from 2024, including Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” SZA’s “SOS Deluxe: LANA,” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet.”
The most-streamed song title went to the Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga collaboration “Die with a Smile,” with over 1.7 billion streams. This was followed by hits like Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” Mars and Rose’s “APT,” Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” and Bad Bunny’s “DtMF.”
Spotify compiles Wrapped reports using listening data from January 1 to mid-November, enabling them to deliver the recap to users by early December. To feature in Spotify Wrapped, users must stream a certain number of tracks or artists for a specified duration. The platform also considers offline streaming as long as the device reconnects to the internet before the Wrapped launch.
In crafting the 2025 Wrapped experience, Spotify introduced new elements such as “Top Albums,” a fan leaderboard, and a “Listening Age” feature. Users can now engage with “Wrapped Party,” an interactive tool for comparing their Wrapped results with others. Additionally, features like “Top Cities,” “Audio Auras,” and “Top Genres” have been reinstated based on user feedback from the previous year.
AI plays a significant role in enhancing Spotify’s technical capabilities, aiding in the compilation and delivery of Wrapped. While AI-driven features like the generative AI-powered podcast from the previous year have been replaced, new AI-centric tools like Archive offer insights into users’ listening habits on specific days. Despite the integration of AI, human creativity remains at the core of Spotify’s Wrapped, with a dedicated team ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for its 700 million users.
