The Blue Jays welcomed back pitchers Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt for the American League Championship Series against Seattle, while shortstop Bo Bichette remained sidelined with a left knee sprain. Both teams announced their 26-man rosters ahead of Game 1 at Rogers Centre.

Manager John Schneider outlined that Scherzer was slated for a potential start or extended appearance, with Bassitt set for bullpen duties. Schneider emphasized the importance of having both players available for critical moments in the game.

In Game 2, the Blue Jays planned to start rookie Trey Yesavage, with Shane Bieber taking the mound for Game 3 in Seattle. The pitching rotation mirrored the one used in the previous division series victory over the New York Yankees, with Kevin Gausman leading the charge.

While Schneider didn’t confirm the Game 4 starter, he hinted that Scherzer could play a significant role. Scherzer, a seasoned eight-time all-star, had a mixed season performance, with Bassitt also contributing solid numbers before his stint on the injured list.

Bichette’s absence was notable, given his key role in the team’s offense this season. Despite his ongoing recovery, he remained engaged in team activities, providing valuable input and maintaining a positive attitude.

The Mariners made roster adjustments, bringing in Bryan Woo and Miles Mastrobuoni, with Woo returning from injury to bolster their pitching staff. The team arrived in Toronto after a grueling five-game series against Detroit, culminating in a marathon 15-inning victory.

The Blue Jays’ ALCS appearance marked a significant milestone, with the team aiming to secure their first World Series title since 1993. The anticipation was high as both teams prepared to face off in a crucial postseason matchup.
