The renowned producer Boi-1da has been granted access to The Tragically Hip’s entire music collection for a special initiative supporting the Canada Soccer Foundation. Joining forces with Boi-1da on the Perfect Pitch program are Canadian artists such as Alessia Cara, Charlotte Cardin, Loud Luxury, Nelly Furtado, and Zeds Dead. Together, they will create a FIFA World Cup-themed album, with proceeds aimed at benefiting youth soccer programs through the Canada Soccer Foundation.
Expressing his excitement, Boi-1da, known for his work with Drake, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber, stated that he looks forward to collaborating with these artists and sharing the music with the public. The Hip guitarist, Rob Baker, highlighted that the band has provided Boi-1da with full creative freedom over their music for this noble cause of promoting soccer in Canada and raising awareness for the upcoming global event in Toronto.
Additional talented musicians are expected to join the project, which is scheduled for release next year ahead of the June 2026 FIFA World Cup. The album will feature original compositions, reimagined tracks, and diverse collaborations across various music genres.
The Perfect Pitch initiative is a partnership between Canada Soccer and Infinity &, an entertainment agency based in Toronto. Boi-1da expressed gratitude for the abundance of talent in Canada, enabling him to create extraordinary music with a diverse range of artists. Baker also shared his enthusiasm, emphasizing the positive impact of this project on Canadian soccer.
As an avid soccer enthusiast and coach, Baker has a strong connection to the sport. He and his son Boris, a member of the band Kasador, have attended numerous matches together, including Canadian World Cup qualifiers and international games. Baker praised Boi-1da’s musical vision and eagerly anticipates the producer’s innovative interpretations of The Tragically Hip’s songs.
