Canadian Pairs Secure Medals at Skate Canada International

Two pairs from Canada secured medal positions following the short program on Friday at Skate Canada International, part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Saskatoon. Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps claimed second place with a score of 73.03, while Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud landed in third place with 70.66 points. Deschamps expressed delight in performing in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, noting improvements in their routine compared to a previous competition in France. Stellato-Dudek mentioned specific elements that impacted their score but reserved final judgment until reviewing their performance. Pereira and Michaud achieved a personal best in the short program, showcasing their training success on home ice. Leading the pairs competition were Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin with a top score of 77.53 points, while Canadians Kelly Ann Laurin and Loucas Ethier were in sixth place. In the women’s event, Japan’s Mone Chiba led with 72.29 points, followed closely by American Isabeau Levito and Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann. Sara-Maude Dupuis represented Canada in eighth place with 60.41 points, expressing satisfaction with her performance and the support from the audience.
