Vancouver Canucks’ player, Brock Boeser, was absent from the team’s recent game against the Washington Capitals in Washington, D.C., citing personal reasons. The announcement of Boeser’s absence was made by Canucks’ general manager, Patrik Allvin, through the team’s social media platforms without specifying when Boeser would return to play. In Boeser’s place, Jonathan Lekkerimaki was included in the lineup for the game against the Capitals.
Boeser has had a successful start to the season with three goals in five games for Vancouver, including a crucial shootout goal in the team’s recent 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. The 28-year-old right-winger avoided free agency in July by signing a lucrative new seven-year, $50.75-million US contract with the Canucks. Boeser, who was selected as the 23rd overall pick by Vancouver in the 2015 draft, has played all 559 regular-season games of his NHL career with the team, recording an impressive tally of 207 goals and 237 assists.
