Eight years have passed since the tragic deaths of Barry and Honey Sherman, but their daughter, Alex Krawczyk, remains hopeful that justice will eventually prevail. The couple was discovered deceased from strangulation in the pool area of their Toronto residence on Old Colony Road in North York on December 15, 2017, and the case has yet to be solved.
In a recent interview with CBC Radio’s Metro Morning, Krawczyk expressed cautious optimism about the ongoing investigation, stating, “I’m encouraged, to some extent, by the fact that the case is still active, and the authorities have not given up on solving it.” She acknowledged the complexity of the situation, emphasizing the need for confidentiality in the exchange of information with the police.
Barry Sherman’s prominence as one of Canada’s wealthiest individuals, Honey’s charitable endeavors, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding their murder captured widespread attention. Various speculations have emerged regarding the case, ranging from potential underworld connections to internal family disputes. Toronto law enforcement remains dedicated to bringing closure to the case, as confirmed by police spokesperson Laurie McCann, although specific details remain undisclosed.
The Sherman family had previously offered a substantial $35 million reward for any information leading to a resolution in the case, with Krawczyk urging potential informants to communicate directly with Toronto police. Despite the unresolved nature of the investigation, concerns for the safety of herself and her family persist for Krawczyk.
Nevertheless, Krawczyk remains steadfast in honoring her parents’ philanthropic legacy. She has engaged with numerous charitable organizations previously supported by her parents to continue their unfinished projects. Notable initiatives she has contributed to include the Ma’mo’weh Wii’soo’ka’tiwin Foundation, an Indigenous-focused wellness camp, and the establishment of an Indigenous care facility at St. Michael’s Hospital.
