Israel announced on Monday that the Israeli military received the body of another deceased hostage from Gaza through the Red Cross, as stated by the Israeli prime minister’s office. If the identity of the deceased hostage is confirmed, it would mean that 12 hostages’ remains are still in Gaza. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, has mentioned difficulties in locating them amidst the rubble caused by the conflict.
The retrieval and transfer of deceased hostages’ bodies in Gaza have posed challenges to President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan. A spokesperson from the Israeli government mentioned that the militant group is aware of the bodies’ whereabouts. Israel permitted an Egyptian technical team to enter on Sunday to collaborate with the Red Cross in the search for the bodies. The team will utilize excavators and trucks to search beyond the designated yellow line in Gaza, where Israeli troops initially withdrew under Trump’s plan.
