Microsoft Azure users may face difficulties accessing Office 365, Minecraft, and other services as the tech giant reported issues with its cloud service on Wednesday. A note on the Azure status page mentioned that teams are actively investigating problems related to the Azure Front Door service, with customers expected to witness initial signs of recovery shortly.
While Microsoft has not provided an immediate comment, the company has acknowledged the issues on its official page and social media channels. The widespread impact of the outage is significant due to the extensive usage of Microsoft’s cloud services by various websites and platforms.
Reports from users indicated disruptions with services like Office 365, Minecraft, X-Box Live, Costco, Starbucks mobile apps, and websites, as well as Copilot and other platforms on Downdetector, an online outage tracking website. This incident follows a recent major outage of Amazon’s cloud computing service, affecting numerous online services such as social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial platforms.
The timing of these problems coincides with Microsoft’s upcoming quarterly earnings report. Amazon leads as the primary provider of cloud computing services, with Microsoft ranking second globally, surpassing Google in most markets.
