The Polaris Music Prize recently revealed exciting updates for the upcoming event on September 22nd. Angine de Poitrine, a shortlisted duo from Saguenay, Quebec, will be performing, and the two-time winner Jeremy Dutcher will be a special guest presenter.
The Polaris Concert and Award Ceremony will be held at Toronto’s iconic Massey Hall, where the 2026 winner will be announced. The event boasts a lineup of talented artists, including Aquakultre, Charlotte Cornfield, Begonia, Bibi Club, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Elizabeth Copeland, Les Louanges, and Tanya Tagaq. Additionally, the electropunk band Slash Need will interpret the shortlisted album “No Lube So Rude” by Peaches, who won’t be performing as she will be on tour in Baltimore that evening.
CBC Music’s “Afterdark” host, Odario Williams, will emcee the evening, with highlights available on CBC Music’s YouTube channel the next day. The full show will also be accessible at a later date.
This weekend marks the final episode of “The Ten,” a summer special series delving into each of the shortlisted albums for this year. Hosted by Williams, the last episode will focus on Aquakultre’s album “1783” and will air on Sunday, September 20th, on CBC Music and CBC Listen.
The Polaris Music Prize features ongoing festival programming in Toronto, including a listening party with Aquakultre on September 19th, a free waterfront concert with Savannah Ré on the same day, a café chat with Beverly Glenn-Copeland and Elizabeth Copeland on September 20th, and a free waterfront concert with Julianna Riolino on the same day.
