Andrew Athias, a Philadelphia digital marketer, shared his experience as one of the many individuals dressed as grass during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. Athias described the unique challenges of performing in a bushel of grass, including grass blades ending up in unexpected places like his nose, mouth, and ears. Despite this, he found the experience surprisingly comfortable due to the padding.

Athias revealed that he landed the role through an open casting call that required specific height criteria. Initially unaware that he would be portraying grass, he only discovered his role upon arriving at the third rehearsal. Facing travel challenges due to a snowstorm, Athias eventually made it to California for rehearsals, where he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep the show a secret.

During rehearsals, Athias interacted with a stand-in for Bad Bunny, humorously referred to as “Good Rabbit.” The secrecy surrounding the show was maintained, with Athias placed near a pink house where various celebrities emerged from on the big day. Despite the long hours of rehearsal and modest pay, Athias expressed gratitude for being part of such a significant moment, representing Bad Bunny’s dream of showcasing Puerto Rico to a global audience.

Reflecting on the experience, Athias likened his newfound fame to the iconic “left shark” moment from Katy Perry’s halftime show and expressed pride in contributing to Bad Bunny’s vision of sharing Puerto Rico’s culture with the world.
