Alanis Morissette has revealed her upcoming album, titled Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, which features a mix of holiday cover songs and new tracks. Scheduled for release on November 6, the album includes collaborations with artists such as Brandi Carlile, Joy Oladokun, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Trans Voices.
The lead single from the album, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, featuring Carlile and Martin, is already available to listeners. Among the covers on the album are timeless classics like O Holy Night, Wham!’s Last Christmas, and Joni Mitchell’s River. Additionally, Morissette presents two new original songs: Christmas on the Dance Floor and To An Empath at Christmas Time.
In an interview with host Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy, Morissette described the album as a heartfelt project, stating, “This record is just so sweet. It’s just been a labour of Christmas love for me.”
While Morissette’s last album was Such Pretty Forks in the Road released in 2020, she has remained active in the music scene. She recently headlined the Calgary Stampede in July and performed alongside Olivia Rodrigo at her Daisy Chain Fields festival in August.
Notably, Rodrigo had the honor of inducting Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022, showcasing the deep respect and admiration between the two artists.
