On the anniversary of Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a grave warning: “No one is secure globally.” The statement comes amidst Russia’s persistent attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure using drones and missiles, as recent ceasefire talks yielded limited progress.
In an interview in Kyiv, Zelenskyy emphasized the crucial need for continued military assistance and support from Ukraine’s allies to counter Russian aggression. He stressed the relentless nature of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions, stating, “Because Putin will not stop.”
Expressing gratitude, Zelenskyy commended Canada for its unwavering support during the conflict. Canada recently pledged over $200 million for military equipment for Ukraine, building on a prior commitment of $680 million. Zelenskyy emphasized the significance of ongoing support in the face of the unresolved conflict.
However, concerns have arisen over a $100 million corruption scandal in Ukraine, potentially jeopardizing financial aid. Despite not being directly implicated, the scandal presents a significant challenge for Zelenskyy’s government, known for its anti-corruption stance.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of global support for Ukraine, cautioning that failing to stand with Ukraine now could make other countries vulnerable to Russian aggression. He highlighted the escalating threat posed by Russia’s expanding missile capabilities and stressed the need for unified international action.
Amid pressure and political differences, Zelenskyy remains firm on not conceding Ukrainian territory to Russia. He expressed readiness for compromises that preserve dignity and sovereignty, rallying Ukrainian citizens to stand firm in the face of ongoing challenges.
