Penny Lancaster has confessed a touching “icing on the cake” episode within her large, mixed family with rock legend husband Sir Rod Stewart.
During a heart-to-heart with Coleen Nolan on a fresh instalment of Loose Women: The Podcast, Penny discussed her and the ‘Maggie May’ hitmaker’s extended clan.
Rod is the father to eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair Wallace, and Aiden Patrick, from relationships with five women: Susannah Boffey, Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter, and his spouse Penny herself.
With such a huge brood, Coleen probed into how she copes with meshing everyone. The 54 year old admitted her uncertainty about “what it would be like” amid a “divorce situation” when your kids go off on holiday with a “new wife.”
She pondered that had her offspring been younger and had she been in the shoes of Rod’s previous partners, her concerns may have spiked over another woman having “influence” on her children or making contentious decisions, reports Edinburgh Live.
Still, she assured us she “really did take into account” the feelings of the biological mum when she was with Rod’s little ones, acknowledging she “could only imagine” the complexities for the kids dealing with their parents’ divorce.
Advancing the conversation, Coleen queried whether Penny believes she could contend with such a scenario now as a mother. Penny clarified: “Now my boys are older, I wouldn’t have a problem with that at all.”
Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster has spoken about the bond between her children and those of her husband’s ex-partners, revealing that they all get along famously.
Speaking on Loose Women, Penny said: “You know, my children, I made sure that they got to know Rachel and Kelly and Alana. And, you know, I’d go to see Liam’s hockey game and Rachel would be there; my little boys would be there.”
She added: “And I think the best gift of all is that Liam, Rachel’s son, recently got married last summer, and he asked my son to be his best man, so, you know, that’s kinda that icing on the cake.”
In other news, it’s been reported that Rod Stewart enjoys a life of luxury when it comes to his dining habits. According to his wife Penny, the rocker indulges in three-course meals every evening, complete with candles.
Penny revealed on BBC Celebrity MasterChef in 2021 that Rod’s love of fine dining means she doesn’t often cook for him. She said: “Rod kind of likes the fine dining every evening, three-course dinners, candles, and it’s kind of out of my league, so I do the kids’ cooking but otherwise, not really au fait.”
The 80 year old singer has also been announced as the Legends slot performer at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. It will be his first time performing at the festival since 2002, when he headlined on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
