London man arrested in connection with fire in Old East Village, second suspect still at large

London police have made an arrest in relation to an arson in the southwestern Ontario city’s east end from earlier this week.

On Wednesday morning, the fire department was called to 737 Dundas St., where they quickly knocked down a blaze on the third floor of the two-storey, multi-unit building.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, police arrested and charged a 38-year-old man with arson causing damage to property, and break-and-enter to commit arson.

There were no injuries reported. Damage to the building is estimated at $250,000, police said.

Police are still on the lookout for another arson suspect in a separate incident at the same location that happened between 10:20 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sept. 5.

The suspect in that case is described as male, white, between 20 to 40 years of age, with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie with a white logo on the front, black pants, dark running shoes and a black and white baseball cap. He has a tattoo, possibly a cross, on the back of his neck behind his right ear.

Police are still on the lookout for a suspect in a September arson at the same location.
