Police say the deaths of two people in their 70s whose bodies were found Thursday in a Montreal suburb are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Longueuil, Que., police initially described the deaths as suspicious and said Friday the case involves a femicide — the killing of a woman.
Officers were called to a home in Boucherville, Que., on Montreal’s South Shore, around 8:45 a.m. Thursday to perform a wellness check.
Upon arrival they found the bodies of 73-year-old Michel Gosselin and 71-year-old Ginette Gosselin, who lived together at the address.
Police spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre says an autopsy allowed officers to confirm the new hypothesis.
The investigation is still ongoing.
