Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash explain why 17-year-old son is ‘missing’ from new BBC reality show

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have opened up about why one member of their blended family has been conspicuously absent from their new BBC reality series ‘Stacey and Joe’. Stacey had two children, prior to meeting Joe on the set of I’m A Celebrity, while Joe brought his own son Harry into the mix from a previous relationship.

Harry has been conspicuously missing from the show, and Joe cleared the air on the Parenting Hell podcast, stating that Harry isn’t residing at Pickle Cottage currently: “He’s at his mum’s. He’s nearly 18 now. So he’s a big big boy.”

The absence of Harry drew plenty of attention from viewers, with several taking to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their confusion as they watched the programme.

Following the first episode, social media was abuzz with remarks such as: “Wow nothing like exploiting your kids. And also Joe saying “5 kids” in the intro bit totally forgetting he has a son of his own.”

Another mystified viewer asked: “Where is the second oldest boy…. is it Leighton? Why is he not on show?”

Stacey, who became a mother to her 17 year old son Zachary during her teens, while in a relationship with Dean Cox, is hopeful that he’ll soon be pitching in more at home. While discussing the family’s busy school run routine, she revealed that Zachary is set to take his Driving Theory Test this week.

With palpable excitement, Stacey said: “I can’t wait,” looking forward to having an extra pair of hands for errands. “I’m going to have someone to help with the food shops. He’s going to be able to do his own school run. Life’s about to get really easy.”

She expressed her hopes for his growing maturity after passing his driving test, noting: “I’m hoping that with his newfound responsibility of driving, he’ll pull a bit more weight.”

As viewers watched on, many echoed the sentiment, suggesting Joe become less of a “liability.”

The couple’s chaotic home life even led some fans to suggest that they had “a very weird and dysfunctional relationship..”

Another fan didn’t hold back, quipping: “It’s a minor miracle that Stacey Solomon hasn’t murdered Joe Swash by now.”

Despite Stacey complaining that her hapless husband seemed to bumble through life, she admitted a twinge of envy: “I just don’t think he thinks. Whereas I feel like I spend my life thinking, ‘Have I done that, did I remember that … I dunno’,” she mused. “When I come back, I wanna be Joe Swash. It’s an easy life.”
