A decade has passed since Hilary Duff released her last album, but now she is making a musical comeback. The singer took to Instagram to announce her return, sharing a post from a recording studio featuring her musician husband, Matthew Koma, with a caption hinting at “new music … or something.”
Duff had been dropping hints about her return in earlier posts as well. On August 27, she posted a nostalgic tribute for the 22nd anniversary of her 2003 album “Metamorphosis,” reflecting on the past and alluding to future career moves, concluding with “To be continued…”
Reports from Variety and Today reveal that Duff has inked a deal with Atlantic Records. Additionally, there is buzz about a docuseries in the works focusing on Duff’s family life, her journey back into the music scene, and her efforts to find balance between her personal and professional life.
While Atlantic Records and Duff’s representatives have not responded to inquiries from CBC News, it is noted that Duff has been relatively absent from the music scene following her 2015 album “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” She did release a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies” in 2016 and collaborated with her husband on RAC’s 2020 remix of “Never Let You Go.”
During her music hiatus, Duff has concentrated on her acting career, transitioning from her Disney days as Lizzie McGuire to roles in films such as “A Cinderella Story,” the horror movie “The Haunting of Sharon Tate,” and the sitcom spinoff “How I Met Your Father.”
No confirmed release date has been set for new music or the rumored documentary. Nonetheless, fans are eagerly anticipating Duff’s return to the music scene, expressing excitement and nostalgia for her past work in online forums.
