Toronto K-pop enthusiasts of P1Harmony were pleasantly surprised with an unexpected fan gathering at Trinity Bellwoods Park on Wednesday evening. The park has become a popular spot for spontaneous celebrity meet-ups, with singer Daniel Caesar recently hosting a surprise concert there.
The six-member band, led by Markham native KEEHO, had planned to perform a headline show at Coca Cola Coliseum. However, the event was postponed due to a border system issue and rescheduled for October 7. Despite this setback, the band decided to organize an impromptu meet-up to connect with their fans, known as P1ece.
Before arriving at the park, P1Harmony announced the surprise gathering through a live stream on Instagram. Approximately 300 fans rushed to the park within an hour of the announcement. KEEHO and the other band members, INTAK, JONGSEOB, JIUNG, SOUL, and THEO, treated the fans to dance performances of their popular songs like “EX” and “Duh!”
During the event, P1Harmony members invited fans to join them in dancing, challenging them to perform intricate choreography from the group’s tracks. One lucky fan, Bryce Guinta from Kitchener, had the opportunity to dance with the band and even received a fist bump from THEO afterward.
Guinta learned about the surprise gathering through an active Discord chatroom dedicated to the band. He and his friends quickly arranged transportation to the park to join the event. Despite the last-minute nature of their decision, Guinta expressed excitement and gratitude for the unique experience.
Another fan, Becky Menmuir, traveled all the way from Halifax to attend the event. She had purchased VIP tickets for the original show, which included a meet-and-greet with the band. Menmuir stated that the impromptu gathering further solidified her admiration for P1Harmony, prompting her to plan a return trip to Toronto for the rescheduled show next week.
Menmuir highlighted KEEHO’s pride in his hometown as a significant factor in making the event special. The band leader often showcases Toronto in videos and shares local attractions with his bandmates, fostering a strong connection between the group and the city.
Both Guinta and Menmuir emphasized the sense of community and camaraderie within the K-pop fandom, noting that the shared love for P1Harmony brought people together at Trinity Bellwoods Park. They expressed gratitude for the memorable experience and the opportunity to bond with fellow fans over their mutual passion for the band.
