Saskatchewan’s NDP Opposition is urging Premier Scott Moe’s administration to take action, don protective gear, and address the sewage pollution affecting the air and soil at a location vacated by a cult in the village of Richmound. NDP member Brittney Senger emphasized that a health directive for the property owner to address the situation is insufficient. Senger stressed the need for government assistance to clean up the sewage, allowing the community to move forward from the ordeal and enabling children and families to enjoy outdoor spaces once more.

Furthermore, the NDP reiterated its demand for an investigation into the delay by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the government in declaring the former school building uninhabitable. The Premier’s office responded by stating that they have been providing consultation and aid, including guidance on regulatory matters, taxation, and voter qualifications to the village. They also highlighted ongoing engagement with local authorities and law enforcement to oversee the situation.

Residents of Richmound have endured distress for an extended period due to the presence of the Kingdom of Canada cult. The group’s disruptive behavior led to the shutdown of utilities at the building, resulting in sewage overflow and environmental contamination. Following a recent police raid on the premises, several individuals associated with the cult were arrested, and various charges were filed. The health authority has deemed the building unsuitable for occupation and ordered the owner to address the sanitary and sewage issues promptly.

Despite questions surrounding the delay in official intervention and the cleanup timeline, the health authority has deferred inquiries to the property owner. Meanwhile, the mayor of Richmound expressed frustration over the village’s financial strain and the perceived lack of support from provincial authorities. While progress is being made in addressing the sewage problem, challenges remain, and the community is eager for a resolution to restore normalcy.
