The finalists for the 2025 fall anniversary edition of the CBC Music Class Challenge powered by MusiCounts have been announced. Prizes for the winners include $2,000 in new musical instruments for first-place winners and plaques for first, second, and third place in each category.
The categories for the competition are as follows:
– Elementary Performance, Vocal or Instrumental (grades k-3)
– Junior Instrumental (grades 4-6)
– Intermediate Instrumental (grades 7-9)
– Senior Instrumental (grades 10-12)
– Junior Vocal (grades 4-6)
– Intermediate Vocal (grades 7-9)
– Senior Vocal (grades 10-12)
– Junior/Intermediate Contemporary Ensemble (grades 4-9)
– Senior Contemporary Ensemble (grades 10-12)
– Studio Production (all grades)
In addition to the main categories, there are special awards for Culture and Tuition-Based Program submissions. The Culture Award recognizes entries featuring non-Western musical instruments or cultural celebrations through music, with a $2,000 MusiCounts grant for the winner. The Tuition-Based Program Award honors exceptional submissions from programs with higher participant fees, with the recipient receiving a plaque.
The competition features a diverse range of performances from schools across Canada. Each category showcases the talent and dedication of the participating students and educators. The CBC Music Class Challenge continues to promote music education and creativity among young musicians nationwide.
