Two days after their World Series defeat, John Schneider has been named as one of the finalists for the American League Manager of the Year award, following his successful leadership of the Toronto Blue Jays to the top of the league standings.
The winner of this prestigious regular-season award, determined by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, will be revealed on November 11. Alongside Schneider, the other contenders for the award are Dan Wilson from the Seattle Mariners and Stephen Vogt from the Cleveland Guardians.
During his fourth year as manager, Schneider orchestrated an impressive turnaround for the Blue Jays, who had finished at the bottom of the AL East with a 74-88 record in 2024. In the 2025 season, Toronto achieved a remarkable 94-68 record, securing the division title through a tiebreaker victory over the New York Yankees by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 13-4 in their last regular-season game.
Following their division win, the Blue Jays embarked on an exhilarating postseason journey. They triumphed over the Yankees in a four-game division series and the Mariners in a thrilling seven-game championship series before ultimately succumbing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a hard-fought seven-game World Series battle.
