Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime has secured a spot in the upcoming ATP Finals. The qualification of the Montreal-born player depended on the outcome of the Hellenic Championship tennis final match between Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Lorenzo Musetti from Italy on Saturday. Djokovic, who had already earned a place in the eight-player tournament, claimed victory over Musetti with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, marking his 101st ATP title and a record-breaking 72nd title on hard courts. Despite his win, Djokovic had to pull out of the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, due to a shoulder injury.

Initially, Musetti needed a win to secure a spot over Auger-Aliassime, but due to Djokovic’s withdrawal, Musetti will now take Djokovic’s place in the event. The ATP Finals are set to take place from Sunday until Nov. 16, featuring players such as Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton from the United States, Australia’s Alex de Minaur, and Germany’s Alexander Zverev.

Auger-Aliassime will kick off his group-stage matches by facing off against Sinner, the current world No. 1, on Monday. Last Sunday, the two players clashed in the Paris Open final, where Sinner emerged victorious with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (4), reclaiming the top ranking.
