Mike O’Shea, a successful figure in the CFL, has been confirmed to continue as the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, as announced by the team recently. At 55 years old, O’Shea, a distinguished coach with two CFL Coach of the Year titles and six Grey Cup victories, will lead the Bombers for his twelfth consecutive season in 2026. The team has achieved an impressive playoff streak of nine seasons, notably playing in five consecutive Grey Cups from 2019 to 2024, clinching the championship in the first two appearances.

The decision to retain O’Shea comes at a pivotal time as the Toronto Argonauts are in search of a new head coach following Ryan Dinwiddie’s departure to join the Ottawa Redblacks as coach and general manager. O’Shea, originally from North Bay, Ontario, had a successful playing career as a linebacker for the Argonauts and later transitioned into coaching, serving as Toronto’s special teams coordinator before taking on the role of head coach for the Bombers.

In addition to O’Shea’s contract extension, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have confirmed the return of general manager Kyle Walters for the upcoming season, ensuring continuity and stability within the organization.
