The Toronto Blue Jays have successfully resolved a ticket management issue caused by an Amazon cloud service outage just in time for Game 7 of the American League Division Championship Series on Monday. The team confirmed that services are back to normal, with extra staff available at the game to address any remaining ticket concerns.
The outage affected Ticketmaster, a prominent seller of Jays tickets, as reported by the team on social media. Efforts are underway to resolve the issue promptly, with updates to follow shortly.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), a provider of digital services including data storage and computing power, experienced an outage early Monday, impacting numerous websites and popular apps like Snapchat and Reddit. The root cause is under investigation.
The disruption lasted approximately three hours, with AWS attributing the problems to its US-EAST-1 Region, also known as Northern Virginia. If the Blue Jays emerge victorious in Monday night’s game, they will advance to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Tickets for the World Series are anticipated to be available for purchase on the team’s website at 10 a.m. ET the following day.
