Tegan Quin, known for being one half of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has written a story for the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot titled “Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. The comic showcases the beloved gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and their families, emphasizing the significance of unity and relationships during challenging periods.
In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, the focus is on twins Wiccan and Speed uniting to combat Ultron while navigating their diverging paths as siblings. Expressing her excitement, Quin mentioned, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.” She added, “Making my Marvel debut with this story isn’t just a thrill, it feels downright magical. And let’s just say Ultrons aren’t that different from certain folks I’ve encountered in the record industry over the years, so spending a few pages crushing one into oblivion was deeply cathartic.”
Alongside Quin, other contributors to “Wiccan & Hulkling” include writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, as well as artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also advocating for Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select a book for the nation to read, engaging in debates over four days and voting to eliminate one book daily until a winner is declared. The 2026 edition is scheduled from April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have launched ten studio albums, featuring popular tracks such as “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their musical success includes selling over a million records and earning accolades like Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins transitioned their writing skills from songs to literature with their collaborative memoir “High School” and the middle-grade graphic novel series “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Moreover, they founded the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
