While the Juno Awards were underway, Justin Bieber, a six-time nominee, held a special live performance at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles on March 29. The pop star showcased tracks from his recent albums, “Swag” and “Swag II,” concluding with hits like “Yukon” and “Daisies.” This concert marked Bieber’s first full show in nearly four years, seen as a warm-up for his upcoming headline performance at Coachella in April.
The Roxy event was unadvertised and exclusive, with the venue only hinting at Bieber’s appearance on the day of the show by adding “Justin Bieber tonight only” to its marquee. Among the attendees were Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, their son Jack, and rumored guests like Matty Healy from the 1975, SZA, Shaboozey, and fellow Canadian artist Tate McRae, who was also nominated for six Juno Awards alongside Bieber. McRae secured four wins, while Bieber left empty-handed.
The audience comprised fervent Bieber fans, with fan pages reaching out to Los Angeles-based Beliebers who couldn’t attend Coachella, offering them the chance to attend the private Roxy concert. Some fans initially mistook the invitation emails for spam. Photos of limited edition T-shirts from the event circulated online as memorabilia.
Justin Bieber is set to headline Coachella on April 11 and 18 for the first time, reportedly earning $10 million USD for his performances. This makes him the highest-paid headliner in Coachella history, surpassing Beyoncé’s $8 million USD payment for her Beychella show in 2018.
