Fuzzy Zoeller, a highly charismatic figure in golf and a winner of two major championships, has passed away at the age of 74, as confirmed by a close associate. His golf career was marked by an unfortunate incident involving a racially insensitive remark about Tiger Woods, which overshadowed his achievements. The cause of his death has not been disclosed yet.

Zoeller made history by becoming the last player to win the Masters on his debut in 1979, triumphing in a three-man playoff. He is also remembered for a memorable moment at Winged Foot in 1984 when he mistakenly conceded victory to Greg Norman, only to defeat him in a playoff the following day.

However, his reputation took a hit during the 1997 Masters when he made a racially charged comment about Tiger Woods. The incident haunted Zoeller, leading to public backlash and even death threats. Despite apologizing, the fallout from the incident continued to affect him throughout his career.

Aside from this blemish, Zoeller had a successful career, winning two major titles, eight other PGA Tour events, and two PGA Tour Champions titles. Known for his fast play and laid-back demeanor on the course, Zoeller left a lasting impact on the golfing community.

Born Frank Urban Zoeller Jr. in Indiana, Zoeller had a decorated career that included numerous accolades and a strong presence in the golfing world. He leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond his achievements on the course.
