Kelowna RCMP officials have reported the arrest and ongoing detention of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. Authorities swiftly closed off entry to the park, situated in a residential vicinity close to the city’s central district, upon the discovery of smoke and flames on the slope. In response, both police and fire department personnel facilitated the safe descent of hikers from the mountain.
Despite heightened concerns due to strong winds in the region, emergency crews successfully contained the fire by 4:45 p.m. PT and maintained their presence at the site. Knox Mountain Park, described as Kelowna’s largest natural reserve spanning 3.85 square kilometers just north of downtown, had undergone controlled burning activities on October 16.
