Canadian freestyle skier Naomi Urness clinched the top spot in the women’s big air World Cup event held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, over the weekend. The athlete from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, achieved a remarkable score of 156.25, securing her first FIS World Cup victory.
In the competition, Ukraine’s Kateryna Kotsar claimed the second position with a score of 152.50, followed by China’s Yang Ruyi in third place with a score of 148.50. Urness had previously placed third in the qualifying round on Thursday with a score of 80.50.
This win marks Urness’ third World Cup medal this season at just 21 years old. She had previously won silver on November 29 and bronze in the preceding event held in China. This victory not only marks a significant milestone in Urness’ career but also propels her to the top spot in the FIS World Cup big air and freeski standings.
