Olympic bronze medalists in ice dancing, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, are set to compete at the upcoming figure skating world championships in March as part of the Canadian team.

The championship is scheduled to take place in Prague, Czechia, from March 24 to 29.

Gilles, hailing from Toronto, and Poirier, from Unionville, Ont., secured their first Olympic medal at the recent Milano Cortina 2026 Games, adding to their silver medals from the past two world championships.

Also making their presence felt is emerging talent Stephen Gogolev, a 21-year-old from Toronto, who showcased his skills on the senior international stage in Milan by securing fifth place in the men’s event, delivering an impressive free skate performance.

Madeline Schizas, a 23-year-old from Oakville, Ont., will be competing in the women’s event after her contribution to the team’s fifth-place finish, although she did not progress to the free program in the individual event at the Games.

Completing the pairs teams are Lia Pereira from Milton, Ont., and Trennt Michaud from Trenton, Ont., following their eighth-place finish at the Olympics.
