A chainsaw has been recalled in both Canada and the United States due to a potential risk of laceration. Individuals possessing the Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL 12” and 14” top handle chainsaws are advised to discontinue use immediately, as per a recall and safety alert issued by the federal government.
The safety alert highlights that there is a concern that the chain brake may not effectively stop the chain from moving when activated, thus creating a laceration hazard. Milwaukee has identified that chainsaws with the letter “A” as the fourth character in their serial number are impacted by this issue.
As of October 21, there have been no reported incidents or injuries related to the chainsaws in Canada. However, the company has acknowledged one laceration case in the U.S. and two other related incidents.
Individuals in possession of the affected chainsaws are urged to contact Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation to arrange for a complimentary repair. To facilitate the repair process, individuals can register their tool on Milwaukee Tool’s eService Tool Support website to receive a prepaid shipping label for sending in their chainsaw.
For further assistance, individuals can reach out to Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation via telephone at 833-953-2012 between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Health Canada, in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, initiated the recall effort.
