British authorities reported that a mass stabbing incident on a London-bound train resulted in 10 individuals being hospitalized, with nine sustaining life-threatening injuries. The police disclosed that counter-terrorism units are aiding in the investigation, which has been classified as a “major incident.” The national code word “Plato” was initially activated but later rescinded, with no motive for the attack revealed.

Chief Superintendent Chris Casey mentioned that inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the details of the attack and cautioned against speculating on the causes. The assault occurred on a Doncaster to London King’s Cross train en route to Huntingdon, a town near Cambridge. Prompt responses from emergency services, including armed police and air ambulances, contained the situation upon the train’s arrival at Huntingdon station.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed that armed police intervened following a call at 7:39 p.m. on Saturday at Huntingdon station, resulting in the arrest of two individuals. Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed solidarity with the affected individuals, while local officials described the incident as harrowing. The train operator, London North Eastern Railway (LNER), advised passengers against travel due to significant disruptions caused by the incident.
