Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has expressed interest in revisiting the idea of abandoning the practice of changing clocks twice a year, following the move of neighboring provinces towards adopting year-round daylight time. British Columbia Premier David Eby has announced that his province will transition to year-round daylight time, aligning with Alberta from November to March. This move, along with Saskatchewan’s use of year-round central standard time, has prompted discussions about consistency across the western provinces. A referendum in Alberta five years ago on keeping daylight time year-round narrowly failed, with 50.2% against and 49.8% in favor. Premier Smith has hinted at the possibility of putting the issue on a ballot again, with the United Conservatives planning to reevaluate the matter. The recent developments will be considered to determine if a similar change would benefit Albertans, as stated by Smith in a recent announcement.
