“Rookie’s Overtime Goal Lifts Ottawa Charge Over Minnesota Frost”

Rookie Sarah Wozniewicz scored her first goal in overtime with just 65 seconds remaining, propelling the Ottawa Charge to a 3-2 win over the two-time defending champions, the Minnesota Frost, during the PWHL’s Takeover Tour at Allstate Arena. Wozniewicz, assisted by Peyton Hemp, secured the victory for the Charge (1-1-0-5) at the 3:55 mark of the 5-minute OT.

The Charge took a 1-0 lead in the first period with a power-play goal by Ronja Savolainen, assisted by Kateřina Mrázová and Jocelyne Larocque. The Frost (3-0-1-2) equalized in the second period with Britta Curl-Salemme’s second goal, assisted by Kelly Pannek and Mae Batherson.

Brianne Jenner extended Ottawa’s lead to 2-1 with a goal in the final seconds of the second period. Rory Guilday provided the assist, and Rebecca Leslie also contributed. Batherson tied the game at 2-all in the final period with her first career goal, assisted by Pannek and Kendall Cooper.

In goal, Gwyneth Philips made 21 saves for Ottawa, including one in overtime, while Nicole Hensley of the Frost made 19 saves, with three crucial saves in the extra period.
