Tornado experts have verified that a twister touched down in the vicinity of Kemptville, Ontario, on the previous Sunday. The tornado materialized during a passing storm, causing damage to the surrounding trees and fields, as reported by Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP). An examination of the area revealed tree destruction, suggesting that the tornado achieved a peak wind velocity of 115 km/h along a brief, narrow trajectory, researchers confirmed. It is estimated that the tornado originated at 3:45 p.m. and traversed a distance of 1.18 kilometers to the northeast. The research team assigned the incident an EF0 classification on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which represents the lowest category for rating tornadoes and downbursts, with ratings ranging from EF0 to EF5. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, according to the NTP. Over the weekend, Environment Canada had issued a yellow-level rainfall advisory for eastern Ontario and western Quebec, cautioning of potential rainfall between 50 and 100 millimeters.
