A juvenile moose found itself trapped in a horse paddock on a ranch in northern Clinton, B.C., prompting a woman named Shauna McAllister to take action. McAllister, a seasoned wildlife expert, discovered the moose on her property and, concerned about its safety near a busy highway, sought help from the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.
Despite several unsuccessful attempts to guide the moose out of the paddock, the animal remained uncooperative. Eventually, with the arrival of RCMP and conservation officers, a unique plan involving a Canadian flag was devised. After an hour of efforts, it was McAllister’s bold approach that successfully led the moose out of the paddock and onto the road, where it was gently guided back into the forest.
The collaborative effort between McAllister and the officers resulted in a safe resolution for the moose, underscoring the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wildlife and promptly reporting animals in distress. The heartwarming experience left McAllister reflecting on the unique bond formed during the rescue operation.
