Late-winter thunderstorms are the main focus of various weather alerts accompanying a cold front in eastern Ontario on Monday. Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch ahead of spring, covering Ottawa-Gatineau and extending to areas including Brockville, Cornwall, and La Pêche. The storm is expected to bring strong winds, heavy rain, hail, and lightning. Some regions within the watch may experience record-breaking temperatures before the cold front ushers in the storm.

For instance, in Ottawa, temperatures could fluctuate from around 0°C at 5 a.m. to 14°C at 5 p.m., before dropping back to approximately -5°C by 5 a.m. on the following day. The cold conditions are anticipated to persist through Tuesday and Wednesday. A watch indicates the possibility of severe weather, while a warning signifies that the weather is either occurring or imminent.

In addition, there is a wind warning in effect for southern Prince Edward County due to expected gusts of up to 90 km/h on Monday afternoon and evening. The Kingston-Belleville area may experience gusts reaching around 80 km/h from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning as per a special weather statement from Environment Canada. Furthermore, communities located west of Ottawa and along Highway 7 could witness between five to 10 centimeters of blowing snow overnight from Monday to Tuesday.

Meanwhile, orange-level storm warnings have been issued for the Barrie and Sudbury regions located to the west.
