Mike Smith, known for his portrayal of Bubbles on the popular show “Trailer Park Boys,” has been accused of sexual assault. Court records from Nova Scotia reveal that Smith faced charges on Oct. 2 in Halifax for an alleged incident that took place on Dec. 30, 2017, in Dartmouth, N.S. The accusations have not yet been verified in court.
A publication ban shields the identity of the purported victim, and Smith has been instructed to refrain from contacting the individual or going to their school, workplace, or residence. Following the allegations, Trailer Park Boys Inc. confirmed that Smith has temporarily stepped down from his position as managing director within the company. The company expressed its awareness of the situation and emphasized its commitment to respecting the legal proceedings without further commentary.
Efforts to reach out to Smith’s representatives and legal counsel for input by CBC News are ongoing. Over the years, Smith, alongside Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay, has gained global recognition as part of the trio representing one of Nova Scotia’s most renowned exports through their TV series, films, and associated ventures.
Despite the recent development, Trailer Park Boys Inc. remains dedicated to delivering the much-anticipated 13th season of the show to its loyal fan base. The trio of actors acquired the rights to the “Trailer Park Boys” franchise in 2013. The filming for Season 13 concluded earlier this year, with the season set to premiere in 2026.
In a previous incident in 2016, Smith was apprehended in Los Angeles on charges of misdemeanor domestic battery, following an alleged altercation at a Hollywood hotel. Subsequently, both Smith and the alleged victim issued a joint statement refuting the allegations, citing a disagreement between friends. The charges were subsequently dismissed due to insufficient evidence, as indicated by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.
Smith is scheduled to appear in court in Halifax soon.
