Following an Amber Alert, a one-year-old girl has been found safe, but police are now seeking her father in connection with a fatal shooting in Brampton, Ontario. The Ontario Provincial Police issued the alert around 5 p.m., which was later cancelled after about two hours. Const. Mandeep Khatra confirmed that the child was located unharmed by the police and likely left with family members.
The whereabouts of the child’s 38-year-old father, who allegedly abducted her, are currently unknown. He is now wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman earlier on the same day. Authorities were alerted to the incident at a plaza parking lot near Queen Street E. and Airport Road, where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who fled the scene with the child in the vehicle, is described as a five-foot-nine, 175-pound man with a thin build, short brown hair, hazel eyes, and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and blue jeans, carrying a black crossbody bag. The suspect is believed to be driving a Black 2024 Nissan Kicks with Quebec license plate FRV4520.
Police in the Niagara Region reported that the suspect was possibly in the Crystal Beach area of Fort Erie, prompting residents to secure their homes. However, subsequent information suggests that the suspect has left the area. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged to contact 911 immediately if he is spotted. Authorities are also requesting assistance from anyone with dashboard or surveillance footage or information related to the incident.
