Toronto Blue Jays merchandise sales have surged as the team advances in the playoffs. The Blue Jays currently lead the series 2-0 against the New York Yankees, with fans eager for a potential series-clinching victory on Tuesday following successful games over the weekend.
Tex Thomas, the owner of Pro League Sports in Toronto, described the overwhelming demand for Blue Jays products during the weekend games, with approximately 85 to 90 percent of sales dedicated to team merchandise. Thomas, who attended both games, nearly caught the ball from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s grand slam in Game 2 and noted that customers have been discussing the games while shopping.
The popularity of Blue Jays merchandise extends beyond Toronto, with online orders pouring in from across Canada and other locations. Top-selling items include jerseys of stars like Guerrero, Bo Bichette, and George Springer, as well as catcher Alejandro Kirk and rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage, who impressed with 11 strikeouts in a recent game against the Yankees.
One surprising standout in sales has been Kirk, according to Thomas. The demand for the team’s white-panel hats, introduced late in the season as a good-luck charm, has also surged. Despite currently being out of stock due to the hats being sourced from New Era warehouses in the U.S., Thomas anticipates a replenishment to meet the demand for the next playoff round.
Rebecca Lanre-Ojo, assistant manager at the Peace Collective clothing store, mentioned a surge in customers seeking unique Blue Jays T-shirts and sweaters before games. The store’s 1992 and ’93 World Series shirts have been particularly popular, reflecting the team’s historic achievements and attracting both longtime fans and newcomers showing support due to the team’s success.
At The Sports Collection in Toronto, manager Abu Numan reported a nationwide influx of customers seeking Blue Jays merchandise, with jerseys, t-shirts, and other items quickly selling out. Fans like Treana Cop, who relocated from Saskatchewan to Toronto, expressed excitement about being part of the Blue Jays’ journey and proudly representing the team.
The energetic support for the Blue Jays has created a buzz in Toronto and across the country, as fans eagerly anticipate the team’s progress in the playoffs.
