Singer Bryan Adams has recently unveiled a new track titled “The Ballad of Terry Fox,” along with a music video paying tribute to the iconic Marathon of Hope participant. The song is set to be featured in the upcoming documentary “Run Terry Run,” which chronicles Terry Fox’s inspiring journey following the loss of his right leg to cancer and his cross-country run from St. John’s to raise funds for cancer research.

Recalling the impact of Terry’s run in 1980, Adams reminisced, “I remember Terry’s run back in 1980 when I was on tour in Canada playing 200-capacity clubs. I was 20 years old and I think Terry was a year older than me.” He emphasized the unity and inspiration that Fox brought to Canada during a pivotal time in the country’s history.

The poignant lyrics of the song reflect Fox’s unwavering determination and his quest to find a cure for cancer, with Adams singing, “The finish line was in his mind, not a city on a map.” Fox’s marathon came to an end in Thunder Bay, Ontario, as cancer spread to his lungs, leading to his untimely death at the age of 22.

Director Sean Menard expressed the powerful combination of Adams’ storytelling through music and Fox’s story on screen, highlighting the significance of one Canadian icon honoring another. “Run Terry Run” is set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, with Adams expressing his pride in being part of the project and honoring Terry’s enduring legacy.
