Canadian luge athletes Beattie Podulsky and Kailey Allan, who usually compete in icy Winterberg, Germany, on the luge World Cup circuit, opted for a change this summer. The duo, both hailing from snowy Calgary, embarked on a two-week adventure in New Zealand and Fiji in an RV. The trip allowed them to strengthen their bond as they navigated through various terrains and shared close quarters, contrasting with their usual sled setup.

Podulsky and Allan aim to leverage their partnership to secure a spot in the inaugural Olympic women’s luge doubles event at the Milan-Cortina Olympics in 2026. The upcoming season begins on December 5th back in Winterberg. Women’s doubles luge, a new addition to the Olympic program, involves two runs on the same day, with the fastest combined time determining the winner.

The athletes are set to showcase their teamwork on February 11, 2026, emphasizing the importance of harmony in doubles luge. Podulsky and Allan, characterized by their shared energy and quick communication, believe their dynamic can propel them to success despite the heightened challenges of doubles luge.

With the Olympic season approaching, the duo has intensified their training regimen, gearing up mentally and physically for the demanding competition ahead. The pressure to perform after their podium success at the previous world championships adds to the stakes, but Podulsky and Allan remain focused on their goal, ready to face the chaos that comes with elite luge competition.
