On September 26, The Tragically Hip, Leslie Feist, Roch Voisine, and Mike Reno and Paul Dean of Loverboy are set to join the prestigious ranks of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. The organization has been honoring both established and emerging talents, with the Breakthrough Songwriter Award recognizing promising French and non-French songwriters since 2017.

Among the recent awardees is Toronto-based songwriter and producer Zale, who has collaborated with industry luminaries like boi-1da and Stephen Kozmeniuk, contributing to hits for artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Childish Gambino. Zale’s versatility has also led to successful collaborations with Canadian acts like Nelly Furtado, the Beaches, Jessie Reyez, and Goldie Boutilier.

Zale expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Music has been a constant in my life, and songwriting remains my true passion. I am thankful for every opportunity to create and collaborate with talented artists and writers.”

The French-language Breakthrough Songwriter Award was claimed by the Montreal-based band Marie Céleste, known for their eclectic blend of world music, folk, jazz, and indie pop. Their second album, “Tout ce qui brille,” released to critical acclaim in March, has solidified their position as a rising star in the music scene.

Marie Céleste shared their excitement for the national recognition, emphasizing their commitment to promoting Quebec culture throughout Canada. Both Zale and Marie Céleste will be awarded a $7,500 cash prize to support their artistic endeavors, along with valuable exposure and resources courtesy of award sponsor TikTok.

The upcoming induction ceremony for the 2026 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame will be held on September 26 at Massey Hall in Toronto. This event promises to celebrate the rich tapestry of Canadian musical talent and honor the contributions of these exceptional artists.
