“Canadian Speedskater Valerie Maltais Wins Double Silver at World Cup”

Canadian speedskater Valerie Maltais secured two silver medals at the conclusion of the World Cup event on Sunday. Hailing from Saguenay, Quebec, Maltais clinched second place in the women’s mass start with a time of 8 minutes 25.62 seconds. Mia Manganello from the United States claimed gold with a time of 8:25.57, while South Korea’s Ji-Woo Park took the bronze with a time of 9:01.80.

In the women’s team pursuit event, Maltais, together with Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann from Ottawa, earned a silver medal by clocking 2:52.40. Japan secured the gold with a time of 2:52.13, and the American team took the bronze with a time of 2:54.01.

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu from Sherbrooke, Quebec, captured a bronze medal in the men’s mass start, the final event of the day. Gelinas-Beaulieu’s time of 7:40.31 placed him behind Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands (7:39.20) and Felix Maly of Germany (7:40.17).
