Canadian swimmers Josh Liendo and Ilya Kharun showcased impressive performances at the Toronto swimming World Cup event on Friday. Liendo clinched the gold in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, setting a new Canadian record with a time of 45.30 seconds. In another victory for Canada, Kharun triumphed in the 200m butterfly event.

Liendo’s outstanding performance surpassed Brent Hayden’s record, with Americans Jack Alexy and Chris Guiliano following closely with times of 45.55 and 45.71 seconds, respectively. Reflecting on his achievement, Liendo expressed joy and credited the positive momentum in the city, stating, “It’s good to be a part of such a great atmosphere.”
