The Cleveland Guardians have acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl from the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade involving cash considerations, as announced by the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Bruihl was recently designated for assignment by the Blue Jays following the team’s signing of reliever Tyler Rogers to a lucrative three-year contract valued at $37 million US.
During the previous season, Bruihl appeared in 15 games for Toronto but did not secure a win, posting a 5.27 earned-run average. He also made a brief postseason appearance, pitching one-third of an inning in the Blue Jays’ victory over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the American League Division Series.
Having made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, the 28-year-old left-hander has previously played for the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates.
