Heise cleverly deceived the defense with a feigned shot before delivering a precise pass to Coyne Schofield for the decisive goal. Coyne Schofield’s season points tally now stands at 14, while Heise notched her 10th assist, with four of those assists coming in the last two games.
This matchup marked the first of five scheduled regular-season games between the Minnesota Frost (5-2-2-3) and the New York Sirens (6-0-1-5). In the previous season, the Sirens held a 3-2-1-0 advantage over Minnesota in head-to-head contests.
The game’s opening goal came from Britta Curl-Salemme, courtesy of an assist from Heise, who capitalized on a defensive error by the Sirens goaltender. Curl-Salemme’s goal was her fifth of the season, extending her league-leading point total to 14, having scored points in 10 out of 12 games this season.
Minnesota took the lead with Kelly Pannek’s quick strike just 35 seconds into the second period, with Coyne Schofield providing the assist. New York responded with a goal from Casey O’Brien, leveling the score at 1-1 late in the first period. Taylor Girard then equalized for New York with her fifth goal of the season at 4:04 of the second period.
Looking ahead, Minnesota will face Montreal at home on Wednesday, while New York is set to play Montreal in a Takeover Tour game at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.
