At least 16 documents have vanished from the U.S. Justice Department’s public website concerning Jeffrey Epstein, which includes a photo featuring U.S. President Donald Trump. The files were accessible on Friday but became inaccessible by Saturday, without any official explanation provided. Among the missing documents were images portraying nude women and a series of photos displayed on a credenza and in drawers.

In one of the photos, a picture of Trump was found in a drawer alongside Jeffrey Epstein, Melania Trump, and Ghislaine Maxwell. The Department of Justice (DOJ) did not clarify the reason behind the removal of these files or confirm if it was intentional. Speculation arose online regarding the unexplained disappearance of these files, fueling existing curiosity surrounding Epstein and the influential individuals associated with him.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee raised concerns about the missing Trump photo, questioning the transparency of the situation and demanding clarity for the public. The sudden disappearance of these files has amplified apprehensions following the DOJ’s recent document release.

The released documents on Friday, consisting of thousands of pages, failed to provide significant new insights into Epstein’s crimes or the decisions that led to his lenient plea deal in 2008. Notably absent were FBI interviews with survivors and internal DOJ memos related to charging decisions, which could have shed light on the case’s handling and Epstein’s plea deal.

Under a recent law passed by Congress, these records were mandated to be disclosed, yet they barely mention prominent figures linked to Epstein, such as Prince Andrew of Britain, raising doubts about the thoroughness of the investigation. The newly unveiled details include the DOJ’s decision to halt an inquiry into Epstein in the 2000s, allowing him to plead guilty to a lesser charge, and a 1996 complaint alleging Epstein stole children’s photographs.

While the released files contain numerous images of Epstein’s properties and notable individuals, including former President Bill Clinton, details surrounding these photos remain unclear. Merely appearing in the files does not imply any illicit behavior on the part of those depicted.

The DOJ attributed the delay in releasing all records to the extensive process of redacting victim identities and sensitive information. Despite missing the Congress-set deadline for full disclosure, the department intends to unveil records progressively, with no specified timeline provided. This incremental approach has sparked criticism from Epstein’s accusers and lawmakers who championed the legislation compelling the DOJ to release the documents.
