Elton John is set to be honored at the upcoming Glenn Gould Prize Gala taking place in Toronto this May. The event will feature performances from a lineup of Canadian artists, including Diana Krall, the Beaches, Ron Sexsmith, and Jeremy Dutcher.
Last year, the Glenn Gould Foundation announced Elton John as the 15th Glenn Gould Laureate, a prestigious recognition that comes with a $100,000 prize. This biennial award is presented to artists whose work showcases excellence and has made a significant impact on their field or the broader cultural landscape.
As part of the honor, the laureate selects a protégé who will receive a $25,000 award. Elton John’s chosen protégé will be revealed later this month. The gala is scheduled for May 9 at the Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting Tuesday, with general public ticket sales opening on Thursday.
