Cadence Wille hails from a family deeply rooted in car and motorsport traditions. Her maternal grandfather worked as an automotive technician, while her dad’s family managed a classic car museum and racetrack. Despite her background, Wille only started following Formula One in 2020, which quickly captivated her interest.

F1 has undergone a transformation in Canada and the U.S., transitioning from a niche sport to a mainstream obsession in recent years, largely due to the impact of the Netflix documentary series “Drive to Survive.” This shift has elevated F1 into a global entertainment powerhouse, a lifestyle brand, and a cultural phenomenon, propelled in part by a new wave of online content creators like Wille, who promote the sport fervently on various platforms.

Wille, operating under the handle @cadencebraking, began creating content in 2024 and has amassed over 100,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok. The digital landscape surrounding F1 has seen a surge in female participation, providing a platform for women professionals in motorsport to share their experiences and insights.

Tiggy Valen, an F1 content creator from California and host of the “Paddock Project” podcast, initiated her content creation journey in 2022 by producing beginner-friendly explainer videos. Her aim was to simplify the technical aspects of the sport for new enthusiasts, catering to a diverse audience and fostering a sense of community among fans.

The fan base of F1 has diversified significantly, with a substantial increase in younger and female followers. This demographic shift has reshaped the sport, prompting a more inclusive and accessible approach by breaking away from its traditional exclusivity.

The sport’s evolution has not only broadened its fan base but also translated into substantial commercial success, with the average team now valued at over $5 billion. Women’s growing influence in the F1 ecosystem is evident, not only as fans but also in technical roles traditionally dominated by men, signaling a positive shift towards gender equality within the sport.

The changing landscape of F1 reflects a broader societal shift towards inclusivity and representation, propelled by the active engagement and growing influence of a diverse fan base, particularly women and newer enthusiasts. This evolving dynamic is reshaping the sport, fostering a more inclusive and engaging environment for all stakeholders.
